As Warren
Buffett says, everyone should learn financial knowledge since young. If
you have savings but not involved in any form of investments, you need
to find out the reasons. Are you sceptical that investments can help
grow your wealth? You do not know how and what to invest in? Are you
worried of losing money? Or did you have bad experiences in the past
which is causing you to shy away from investing?
I strongly feel you need to know YOUR reason, clear the obstacles and move on.
Many investors I know of DO NOT consistently stay in the market. They enter and exit the market as they like. When the market is ‘hot’ or euphoric, you will see them jumping in the bandwagon, make some money and only to lose it all when the market goes against them. They then lay low for a certain period (could be months or years) and when they see others make money, they join the game, not learning from their previous lost, only to repeat the same mistakes over and over again.
As a conclusion, we paid the market a lot of money but fail to learn our lessons.
Another type of investors who prefers to stay in the market for a long time; making money half the time while losing on other occasions. After investing for many years, they are not certain if they have made a profit or loss. Such investors are often followers, as they do not know how to make a buy or sell decision but rather follow what other investors are buying/selling.
In my opinion, everyone needs to learn how to make their own investment decisions. Regardless of whether you made a profit or loss, you need to analyze what went right and wrong and improve as you make your next investment decision. My role is to empower my readers to make their own investment decisions based on different situations and needs.
Investing is a journey of self-discovery and only by getting your feet wet; you are able to improve along the way. There are absolutely NO SHORT CUTS. Do not be afraid to make mistakes, instead, learn from them to be a better investor. No one is born an investor. Everyone learns their lesson after ‘investing in the market’, some invested more than others.
Everyone should master how to invest and grow your savings. Living in the 21st century, investing knowledge is no longer an option.
